For stays from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, the general rates for the rest of Catalonia apply in Salou: €4.50 for 5-star hotels and equivalent luxury accommodation, €1.80 for 4-star and 4-star superior hotels, €1.75 for tourist holiday rentals, €0.80 for youth hostels and €0.90 for other hotels, campsites and establishments.

Should I pay in euros or pounds when using my card in Salou?
If a card terminal offers the choice, paying in euros is usually the better starting point because it avoids the retailer doing the currency conversion.
Paying in pounds uses Dynamic Currency Conversion, where the retailer or payment provider chooses the exchange rate. Paying in euros normally leaves the conversion to your card provider.
Check your own card's overseas fees, because some UK cards charge for foreign-currency spending while others do not. If the terminal shows a conversion mark-up, compare it before accepting sterling.

Should I take cash to Salou or can I rely on cards?
Take more than one way to pay rather than relying on a single card.
The UK Foreign Office recommends travelling with access to local currency as well as bank or credit cards. Even if you plan to pay mainly by card, keeping some euros gives you a fallback for small purchases, card outages or a lost or blocked card.
Check your bank's overseas fees before travelling and keep your backup payment method separate from your main wallet.

How much spending money do I need for Salou?
There is no useful one-size-fits-all figure: your hotel board basis and plans make a much bigger difference than the length of the holiday alone.
Build your budget around what you will actually pay for: meals and drinks outside your accommodation, local transport, PortAventura or other attractions, day trips and shopping. Someone staying all-inclusive will need a very different daily budget from a self-catering visitor eating out for every meal.
Keep a separate emergency buffer and make sure you can access additional funds if needed rather than carrying your whole holiday budget as cash.

What time is the bus from Reus Airport to Salou?
There is not one fixed all-season departure time; the airport service changes with the flight schedule.
Aena says departures from Reus Airport depend on flight schedules and are usually coordinated with arriving flights. That means an old timetable screenshot can be wrong even if it was correct earlier in the season.
Use the current Reus Airport to Salou bus page for your exact travel date and check again close to arrival if your flight time changes.
Source ↗ Information checked 25 September 2026.
What is the last bus from Reus Airport to Salou?

Reus Airport bus departures are tied to the airport's flight schedule. The last useful Salou service can therefore be different on different days.

Do I need to pre-book a taxi from Reus Airport to Salou?
Usually not: Aena says Reus Airport has a permanent taxi service for arriving flights.

Can I walk from Salou to PortAventura World?
From some central Salou hotels, yes; from other parts of the resort the distance makes bus or taxi more practical.

Yes, but October is more seasonal than summer and some tourist businesses reduce hours or close as the main season ends.
