INFO in Salou

Getting around Salou

Walking, taxis, trains, local buses, bikes, scooters, the tourist train and parking in Salou, plus how to reach Cambrils, Tarragona and Barcelona.

Walking and short local journeys

Most of central Salou is flat and easy to walk. Passeig Jaume I runs behind Llevant beach, and Passeig Miramar continues west from the Nautical Club, close to the sand, for a couple of kilometres to the edge of Cambrils. It makes a pleasant walk or ride, and you can come back by bus.

To the east, the Coastal Path (Camí de Ronda) follows the shore past Capellans and Llarga to the Cap Salou coves. Parts of it run along clifftops and through woodland, so check the route first if you have a pushchair or wheelchair.

  • Allow for heat, hills and road crossings, not just distance.
  • Carry water in hot weather.
  • Choose well-lit routes at night.

Taxis

Salou's official taxi service is Taxi Salou, which runs 24 hours a day. You can phone, use the MovebyTaxi app or pick one up at a rank. Taxis use a meter and fares are set each year. Adapted taxis that take a wheelchair are available if you ask when booking.

Aena gives an approximate taxi fare of €34 to €35 from Reus Airport to Salou or PortAventura, and about €48 to Camp de Tarragona station. Fares can be higher at night, at weekends and on public holidays.

  • Taxi Salou: 977 38 50 50 or 977 38 50 90.
  • Main ranks: Plaça Europa, Font Lluminosa, Plaça Bonet, Av. Carles Buïgas, Cap Salou, the train station and PortAventura.
  • Ask for an estimate before longer journeys.

Trains and getting to Barcelona

Salou-PortAventura station is on Av. Joan Fuster. It is served by the RT2 to Tarragona, which takes about 13 minutes and runs regularly through the day, and by a few R17 trains a day direct to Barcelona Estació de França.

For other trains to Barcelona, change at Tarragona, where R14, R15 and R16 services run to Barcelona. Cambrils station is served by R16. For the fastest trip, high-speed trains from Camp de Tarragona reach Barcelona Sants in roughly half an hour, and there is a bus to Camp de Tarragona from Salou.

  • Check the line and platform on the day, because Rodalies trains are often delayed.
  • Buy your ticket before you board.
  • Rodalies information: 900 41 00 41 (free).

Local buses and airport buses

Plana buses link Salou with Cambrils, La Pineda, PortAventura, Reus and Tarragona, with stops on the main streets of the resort. The Reus Airport bus is timed around flights rather than running to a fixed timetable, so check the times for your travel date. A BusPlana office can confirm them for you.

If you're not sure about anything, pop into a BusPlana office. The staff are really helpful, especially with winter timetables, airport buses and tickets and passes. In central Salou there are offices at Carrer de Carles Buïgas 43 and at Carrer del Nord 82, by Plaça d'Europa, plus smaller BusPlana kiosks around the resort, La Pineda and Cambrils. Opening hours aren't published online, so if you're making a special trip, ring customer service first.

  • Open the bus pages for each route's stops, fares and operator timetables.
  • Check the last return bus before an evening out.
  • BusPlana customer service: 977 55 36 80 (WhatsApp 620 20 16 32).
  • BusPlana offices in Salou: Carrer de Carles Buïgas 43 and Carrer del Nord 82 (Plaça d'Europa).

Bikes, scooters and the tourist train

Several shops hire bikes, e-bikes, electric scooters and mobility scooters by the hour, day or week, and some deliver to hotels. If you ride an electric scooter, use the bike lane or 30 km/h streets, never the pavement, and wear a helmet. Riders must be at least 15, and only one person may ride at a time.

The Salou tourist train runs a circular sightseeing route past the port, Torre Vella, the City Park and other landmarks. You stay on for the whole trip rather than hopping on and off.

  • Top speed for e-scooters is 25 km/h. No headphones or phones while riding.
  • Use lights at night and park in bike racks, not against trees or lampposts.
  • Check deposits, insurance and ID requirements before you hire.

Driving and parking

Blue-zone pay parking applies in the tourist area over Easter (27 March to 12 April in 2026) and from June to September. A handful of central streets around Via Roma and Carrer Barcelona are blue zone all year. Pay at the meter or with the MOT: Aparcar app, and check the meter for times and prices.

There is free parking on Carrer Montserrat Vayreda, plus covered car parks on Via Roma by the market and on Carrer Logronyo, both open all year. A seasonal motorhome area next to the station closes from 30 November 2026 until the 2027 season.

  • Never leave valuables on show in a parked car.
  • Check signs carefully. Some zones change with the season.
  • Electric car charging points are listed on the Visit Salou website.

Cambrils, La Pineda, Tarragona and Reus

Nearby towns are easy to reach by bus, and Tarragona is also a short train ride away. Cambrils can also be reached on foot or by bike along the seafront, or by the Salou–Cambrils ferry when it is sailing.

  • Compare direct services with connections.
  • Check the last practical return service.
  • Allow extra time in the busy summer months.
